CermeTi® Lined Shot Sleeves

This metal matrix composite material provides superior insulation, hardness,
and stiffness, as well as wear and erosion resistance:

• Reduce chilled layer defects associated with heat loss
• Increase resistance to soldering and erosion
• Increase sleeve life 5 times over standard materials
• Lower breakage and friction
• Decrease downtime

The superior CermeTi® liner is manufactured using the Cold plus Hot Isostatic Pressing (CHIP) process. This liner fits inside a new or reconditioned sleeve to provide lower thermal conductivity and greater heat retention. Benefits include reduced casting laminations, decreased molten aluminum holding furnace temperature, and lower energy cost. Independent testing shows the CermeTi® liner offers up to 10 times the resistance to aluminum soldering effects compared to H-13 steel.
